Game Of Thrones breekt ei zo na het record

Met 24 nominaties is Game Of Thrones de op één na meest genomineerde serie voor de Emmy’s (NYPD Blue deed het in 1994 beter met 27 nominaties). Daarna volgen American Horror Story: Freak Show met 19, Olive Kitteridge met 13, de tv-film Bessie met 12, House Of Cards, Mad Men en Transparent met elk 11 nominaties. Transparent is daarmee ook de meest genomineerde comedyserie. Nieuwkomer Better Call Saul kreeg 7 nominaties. Het door de pers bejubelde Justified dat net als Mad Men aan z’n laatste bezig was, kreeg geen nominaties. Andere populaire series die erg pover scoorden of die helemaal geen nominaties kregen waren: Empire, The Americans, The Walking Dead, Grace And Frankie, Bloodline, Girls, The Missing en tweevoudig Golden Globe-winaaar The Affair. Dat nominaties zeer relatief zijn, mag blijken uit het feit dat Grace Of Monaco, door de pers neergesabeld bij zijn première in Cannes en daarna ook in de bioscoop, nu werd genomineerd voor ‘beste tv-film’.
Wat de zenders betreft, triomfeert HBO met kop en schouders met niet minder dan 126 nominaties. De netwerkzender ABC volgt als tweede met 42 nominaties, driemaal zo weing als HBO. Opvallend is ook dat online providers Netflix en Amazon samen goed zijn voor 46 nominaties.
