Orange Is the New Black wint twee SAG Awards

Vannacht werden de SAG Awards voor de 21ste keer uitgereikt. Dit zijn de prijzen waarmee de Screen Actors Guild de beste vertolkingen van het jaar bekroond. Net als de PGA Awards, worden ook de SAG Awards door alle betrokkenen hoog ingeschat. En net als bij de PGA Awards wordt er onderscheid gemaakt tussen ‘film’ en ‘televisie’

In de catgorie ‘televisie’ was Orange Is The New Black de grote winnaar. De Netflix-serie won ‘beste ensemble cast’ en Uzo Aduba zag bovendien haar individuele prestatie bekroond met de award voor ‘beste actrice in een comedy serie’. De award voor ‘beste drama serie’ ging verrassend naar Dowton Abbey en niet naar Game Of Thrones of House Of Cards. Kevin Spacey won wel de individuele award bij de mannelijke acteurs, maar dat betekende tegelijkertijd dat True Detective – vertegenwoordigd in deze categorie door twee acteurs – andermaal buiten de prijzen viel.

De overwinning van Viola Davis als ‘beste actrice in een drama series’ was dé verrassing van de avond. Net als de serie How To Get Away With Murder is ook haar prestatie fel overroepen. Liever hadden we de award naar Tatiana Maslany, Robin Wright of Juliana Margulies zien gaan. In de categorie ‘beste miniserie’ waren Mark Ruffalo en Frances McDormand verdiende winnaars.
